Our work
Stretch for Hope Uganda (SHU) works to educate and build the capacity of vulnerable and disadvantaged families to withstand unjust treatment from the community in which they live. Our activities include advocacy, capacity building, empowerment, and community engagement.
…rooted in the belief in the inherent dignity of all individuals
Our Objectives
Specialised Training & Workshops
To provide affordable, specialised short-term training workshops, conferences, and seminars in modern methods of commercial agribusiness, innovative productivity, and post-harvest storage management. This aims to enhance food security, market farm produce to generate wealth, and restore hope for people living in post-disaster and underserved communities.
Resource Management & Empowerment
To mobilise and empower people in underserved rural and urban communities, enabling them to plan, access, and manage resources sustainably through quality, innovative, and productive household cottage industry activities. This fosters socio-economic development (SED) and self-reliance.
Community Programmes for Self-Reliance
To engage members in productive community programmes that generate income for self-reliance while promoting spiritual growth, revival, and holistic transformation of stakeholders. This is achieved through effective community engagement and empowerment.
Adult Literacy Initiatives
To promote and provide specialised adult literacy initiatives in partnership with experts, focusing on remote households of vulnerable and disadvantaged families. This enhances their capacity for socio-economic development (SED) and empowerment.
Promoting Peaceful Coexistence
To involve and engage stakeholders in household communities, promoting peaceful interfaith, intertribal, inter-ethnic, and cross-cultural coexistence. This enhances community-based approaches to shared physical and spiritual concerns within the natural boundaries of the catchment area through advocacy and community engagement.
Faith-Based Outreach & Evangelism
To propagate practical faith through various means such as public and house-to-house campaigns, crusades, seminars, discipleship multiplication, and empowerment of globally minded believers. These strategies comply with the organisation’s constitutional provisions, state laws, and the Holy Scriptures’ trustworthiness, embracing the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
Psycho-Social Support & Care
To empower stakeholders to offer psycho-social support, and establish home-based care and protection for women, children, youth, and men at risk due to factors like death, displacement, unemployment, insecurity, low income, multiple disasters, population explosion, and imprisonment, as informed by research data and trends. This is achieved through advocacy and community engagement.
Partnership Networks
To establish and foster appropriate partnerships with key holistic development players. These networks aim to implement policies and programmes of shared interest for the common benefit of stakeholders within the mutually selected catchment area, promoting socio-economic development (SED).
Self-Awareness & Dignity Restoration
To inspire individuals from vulnerable and disadvantaged families to achieve self-awareness and restore their self-dignity through empowerment and advocacy.
Resource Mobilisation
To raise adequate resources by appealing for, accepting, and receiving aid, donations, and gifts locally and internationally from charitable organisations, individuals, companies, governments, and other entities. This supports the fulfilment of the organisation’s objectives and socio-economic development (SED).
Lawful Exercise of Powers
To lawfully exercise all powers necessary or convenient to effect any of the fundamental tenets of the objectives for which the organisation is established.
Our Mission
To equip and empower vulnerable and disadvantaged families to become resilient in the face of unjust treatment from the community
